Location: The Colorado River Ranch is located 6.8 miles southeast of Bastrop on the southwest side of State Highway 71. This location is also 2.75 miles northwest of Smithville, Texas. The ranch has 3/10ths of a mile of State Highway 71 road frontage, 2.3 miles of frontage on the Colorado River, and 1 mile of frontage on Alum Creek.

Vegetation & Terrain: The Colorado River Ranch has a rolling terrain with an elevation that ranges from about 350 feet along State Highway 71 to about 300 feet at the Colorado River. One of the outstanding features of the ranch is the beautiful Colorado River whose meandering path forms the southern and eastern boundaries of the ranch. Alum Creek also forms a portion of the western boundary. Both the Colorado River and Alum Creek are lined with large trees and dense areas of underbrush. The northern half of the ranch is covered in dense areas of huisache and scattered large trees which make for an attractive habitat for wild game. The balance of the ranch is mostly open native and improved grasses with scattered large trees including many large pecans.

Water: Alum Creek bisects the northern end of the ranch in area that includes several rocky ledges and an undulating terrain. Alum Creek is a live water creek that flows directly into the Colorado River on the ranch.

Improvements: The ranch includes a several older barns and sheds which are usable for general storage of feed and equipment. The ranch includes an older set of livestock working pens, a network of roads, as well as both perimeter and cross fencing.

Wildlife: The Colorado River Ranch includes an abundance habitat attractive to wildlife. Wild game on the ranch includes whitetail deer, wild hogs, dove, and an occasional turkey. The river offers great fishing and in the winter is home to a variety of ducks. The river is also attractive for a variety of water sport activities including swimming, canoeing, and tube floating to the State Highway 71 bridge which is just south 4.75 miles.
